Date / Circa: Circa 1791, the year of their marriage
Maker / Origin: Berks County, Pennsylvania
Medium: Pastel on paper affixed to fine canvas on the original strainers in contemporary walnut, black-painted frames.
Miscellaneous: The labels affixed to the lower right corner of each portrait read: "Christina Backenstose Moyer 1765-1849" & "Daniel Moyer Sr 1766-May 1814". The pencil inscription on the reverse of the gentleman reads: "Could carry 1/2 ton on Battalion Days, A Revolutionary & 1812 soldier".
